Snack Pack Program

IODE Canada provides daily snacks to 1,700 students at 14 schools in under-privileged communities across Canada. This includes milk, juice, crackers, peanut butter, cheese, and cereal.

You can make a contribution to support this program through our Snack Pack Fundraiser Campaign with Indigo. When you purchase eGift Cards through our campaign, you will receive the full face value of your purchase and IODE Snack Pack will receive 10% of the value from Indigo as a charitable donation.

100th Anniversary Grant

The IODE 100th Anniversary Grant Program is aimed at the prevention and rehabilitation of children and youth at risk of abuse and neglect. The Grant was created for IODE’s centennial year in 2000 as a financial gift from IODE members. It is intended to benefit children as well as to celebrate the longstanding commitment IODE has to Canada’s youth. The $25,000 grant was first awarded in 2001 and continues in
alternate years.

War Memorial Scholarships

As World War I ended, The National Chapter of Canada initiated a living memorial to 60,000 Canadians whose lives were sacrificed. This memorial provided bursaries for university studies in Canada to children of men killed or permanently disabled in the Great War. Today, IODE Canada continue to honour this tradition. Applicants must be Canadian citizens and in at least the second year of their doctoral program at Canadian or Commonwealth universities. Scholarships valued at $15,000.

Violet Downey Book Awards

Through the generosity of an IODE member, the late Mrs. Violet Downey, IODE Canada established The National Chapter of Canada IODE Violet Downey Book Award in 1984. The award is offered annually for the best English language book for children aged 13 and under that is written by a Canadian citizen and was published in Canada.
