Bursaries & Awards

IODE City of Lakes Chapter offers a number of awards and bursaries to students in Sudbury at the elementary and post secondary levels. These include a "Good Citizen" award for young students, and bursaries for students at Cambrian College and Laurentian University.

Books for Children

IODE at all levels works to encourage a love of reading in Canadian children. Every year our Provincial and National Chapters recognize exceptional children's books by Canadian authors. The IODE City of Lakes Chapter purchases books for libraries in
Greater Sudbury every year, and we also include books in each one of our baby layettes provided to ​new moms in need.

Other Education Support

IODE City of Lakes gets involved to encourage and support Greater Sudbury schools and students in a number of different ways. Members provide reading support in schools on a weekly basis; we support breakfast clubs to make sure students are starting their day out right; and we volunteer as judges for the annual Heritage Fair, which encourage middle school kids to explore their Canadian Heritage.
