Supporting Children

IODE City of Lakes believes that every child deserves the chance to have a bright future. We support the children of Greater Sudbury through sponsorship of the breakfast program at Churchill PS and the Sudbury Manitoulin Children's Foundation's Send-A-Kid-To-Camp program. We also support children and families under the care of the Children's Aid Society, youth living at Foyer Notre Dame House shelter and young people at SACY.

Caring for Adults & Seniors

Some of the adults and seniors in Sudbury need more support than they have available from friends and family. IODE City of Lakes Chapter helps fill this gap by providing toiletry bags to those without support in the hospital and nursing homes, as well as immediate need kits and cell phones for women and families in emergency situations. We also sponsor two adults' participation in the Alzheimer Society's ​Adult Day Program.

Baby Layette Program

Every new baby deserves a safe and comfortable start in life. IODE City of Lakes Chapter provides baby layettes for new mothers-in-need to the Birthing Centre of Health Sciences North. Each layette contains a handmade quilt, a shawl, bath products, a soother, a brush and comb, an assortment of clothing, seasonal items like a snowsuit, a rattle, a soft toy, and a book.

YWCA Genevra House

IODE City of Lakes helps women leaving Genevra House to get a clean start with Fresh Start Buckets containing everything they will need to freshen up their new homes. We also provide craft kits for children who are living at the shelter.

Christmas Giving

IODE City of Lakes Chapter helps spread Christmas cheer to those who might not otherwise receive a gift during the holiday season. This includes backpacks filled with small gifts and goodies for the youth living at Foyer Notre Dame House shelter, gifts for senior veterans without family, gifts for families and youth under the care of the Children's Aid Society, and socks and chocolates for patrons of Elgin Street Mission.
