About IODE Canada
IODE Canada is a national women's charitable organization. Women of all ages, from all walks of life and educational backgrounds, meet in local chapters for fun, friendship and community volunteerism.
Members volunteer with and for people, focusing on Children, Education and Community Services. Each IODE chapter has the independence to choose and support projects in their own community. If you have just a few hours to spare monthly, you can make a difference and form lifelong friendships.
IODE membership is many things to many people. It is this diversification that holds the interest of the members and attracts others to it. What other organization has so much to offer to so many and in such different age groups?
The main benefit of belonging to IODE is being part of a like-minded group of women who work together to improve the quality of life for those in need.

Badge of Membership
The badge (never referred to as a pin) is the emblem of membership in IODE.
The seven-pointed star on a dark blue background has at its centre the Union Jack, showing our pride that Canada is a member of the Commonwealth of Nations. The surrounding white circle embodying the name of the Organization in gold lettering is securely clasped at the base and symbolizes the unity of purpose of all members. The crown surmounting the Badge represents loyalty to the Queen of Canada. |
About IODE City of Lakes Chapter
IODE City of Lakes Chapter was formed in 2005 when two Sudbury Chapters--Alexander Ramsay and Elizabeth Fry-- decided to join forces. IODE chapters are named for people or events of significance and for geographical locations. Since the two chapters united over their common goal to improve quality of life for individuals in Greater Sudbury, it was fitting that they chose a name that represents the city they both loved. City of Greater Sudbury is home to more than 330 lakes, hence the name City of Lakes.
Our Chapter motto is, "Not for Ourselves Alone."
